Wednesday, July 21st, 2010Beware of Ticks!
Monday, April 12th, 2010With the weather warming up be sure to remember that when out in the woods or anywhere for that matter to keep your eyes open for ticks. Use your insect repellent to mask yourself from them and make sure that you check yourself thoroughly if you are out in the woods for any length of time. Also, do not be an idiot like I was and having found a few of them on me, did not thoroughly take precautions to make sure we found and killed them all. My girlfriend had one embed itself near her belly button. Of course we could not find a pair of tweezers to get it off so we made a mess of the whole thing.
Using an insect repellent with deet and make sure to throw your hiking clothes immediately into the laundry can help keep the little buggers off of you. Be careful with deet around small children and make sure you test a small spot on yourself to make sure you are not allergic to it before coating yourself completely and then regretting it.
This just in: Permethrin-based Insect Repellent Clothing that prevents insect bites. This innovation in bug and insect repellent provides the benefits of an insect repellent spray without the constant reapplication, so the number of insect bites is dramatically reduced without ever having to coat (and re-coat) with an insect spray or cream, because the Permethrin is IN the clothing, not on the skin.

Residual Income: What is it?
Wednesday, February 10th, 2010I was in a multi-level marketing group back in the early 90s called Amway. Some years ago it became Quixtar, now you have seen commercials for Amway Global. They taught me a money making philosophy that I will never forget. It is called “residual income.” What is residual income you ask? It is income that you do the work once and receive income long after the work has been done. Insurance agents, real estate investors and multi-level marketing groups are the main way to achieve this type of income. I am sure that there are other ways. Making a website that receives a steady stream of sales traffic could be considered another way if you wanted. I would love to hear some other people’s input on other ways to create residual income.
Why would you want residual income? WHY NOT!?!? If you could do your current job for a week then get paid for it the rest of your life, would that be a good deal? You bet it would! I still to this day meet people that do not grasp this concept, therefore they still amble aimlessly along in an eight hour a day job or worse a sixty hour a week go nowhere job.
What happens if you lose your ability to work now? Your income stops! Well, maybe you are smart and you signed up for AFLAC then you will be receiving at least a little bit of income until you can go back to work or go on permanent disability.
What is my story? A few years ago I dated a great gal that is still a close friend today. She had her ducks in a row. She bought a run down building, borrowed some money to fix it up, and rented out the whole upper floor while she lives in the whole downstairs. She even found a government program for urban renewal to get “free’ money to fix it up. She only has to pay it back if she sells the building. That is for a separate entry. Yes, to answer your question I do own a building of my own and continue to look for another that is as good of a deal as my first one.
I will be posting articles on the main site regarding how to start a business, buy a building, or what to look for in a multi-level marketing group.
Have a great day!

Releasing The Inner Demons
Thursday, January 14th, 2010Words! They can make you feel better, they can make you feel worse, they can make you move or they can stop you dead in your tracks. It all depends on how you use them. I am finding that this little area called a BLOG is the perfect place to air out those “inner demons” that make me doubtful and fearful of what my future holds. Everybody has good days, everybody has bad days, it’s how you react or respond to them that defines who and what you are.
You look at life like this: My dad used to tell me two things about it.
1. Nobody said life was going to be easy
2. The first 100 years are the hardest
As a child or a teenager this statement can be very devastating. It can make you do one of two things, press harder or give up. For a very long time I just gave up. I figured that my life would not amount to anything, I would never make much money and I would never really be happy. All those thoughts were wrong! Wrong thinking can keep you from getting anything that you want from this world. Everything begins with a thought, then progresses to a belief, then it becomes an action.
A great song by a group called Def Leppard was “Action, Not Words.” You can make so much happen in your life just by infusing some action into it.

Online Bill Paying: Can It Be Trusted?
Thursday, January 14th, 2010I have sworn by online banking for the past 12 years. In almost that amount of years I have never had a problem. After getting a shutoff notice for the water bill today, I think I am going to start sending out checks again.
In the past six months, I have had several online transactions go astray. Since September of 2009 I have had four major mishaps. Not only did the bill not get credited, that money had to be recovered, through very time consuming phone calls, emails and assistance from various government agencies. It seems that more technologically advanced we get the more careless others become with our hard earned money.

The Love Of Money Is The Root of All Evil, Not The Money Itself
Wednesday, December 30th, 2009According to the Bible “the love of money is the root of all evil”. People misunderstand that quote believing that money itself is bad. They believe it to say “money is the root of all evil” which is not what it says at all. It is merely telling us not to cherish money so much that we do evil things to get it. We should also be cautious not to put money above those closest to us.
The root of anything is its core for support and nourishment. If evil is the plant the root is what nourishes and causes it to grow. If you cut the roots off of a plant, eventually it will die or it will grow a new set of roots. It cannot live without the roots! If you neglect those you love like your family merely for the sake of having money, which can be an evil. I am not talking about making money to survive. I am talking about the people who must have expensive things that they can’t afford “just because”. The key to anything in life is balance.
The thought of having a lot of money can cause some people to not strive to succeed because they think it will make them a bad person. If you do good things to acquire money, that is good. If you do evil to acquire the money then that is bad. The deed to attain the money is “the good” or “the evil”.
If you have noticed that at either end of the spectrum the very poor or the very rich there is some form of lust for money. In your poorer neighborhoods you see very high crime rates, why because people lack the money to meet even there most basic necessities. In the richer neighborhoods there is crime because of a different form of evil, greed. Money is neither good, nor bad, just the motivating factor to either meet or exceed our needs, wants and desires.
Look at the good things that are done every day with money! Donations to charities, without it churches couldn’t run, more children would starve, more people would be homeless, animals could not be rescued and there would be no research for treatment of all the terrible diseases that are out there among other things.
Money in and of itself is not evil, what is done with the money or to get it can be evil. Money confiscated from a drug dealer and given to a homeless shelter, is it evil? NO! Is it good? NO! The money doesn’t and can’t care what is done with it, it is an inanimate object, a thing. The deed is what makes the money good or evil.
All in all the morale of the story is; do not neglect that which should be closest to you simply for the sake of money.
